Welcome
Dr Alyson is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and The British Psychological Society (BPS). She has a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, a Masters in Counselling Psychology, a Masters in Forensic Psychology and an Honours Degree in Psychology. She has completed part one, two and three of the Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) training and has also achieved the Change foundation qualification in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (BACP Endorsed).
She utilises a range of approaches, including Person Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She can work with Solution Focused Therapy with less of an emphasis on problem focused work. This approach is beneficial for clients who are suitable for time limited therapy and are motivated to challenge their outlook on life. Due to her extensive experience she is able to work with different therapeutic models to meet the needs of the client, because the application of one therapeutic approach may not work for everyone. Alyson has worked with adults, adolescents and children in various settings, including a private residential unit, the NHS and an addiction service.
She has specialised in addictions, adult mental health (primary and secondary care), and child mental health, but is able to work with various presenting problems ranging from specific issues to more complex difficulties.
